Coping With Depression/anxiety During This Pandemic While Having HIV:

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I feel like I am reliving the beginning of the HIV epidemic back in the 80's. Lots of feelings from back then come to mind again. The lack of both the Reagan and Trump administration to ignore the science and growing numbers of cases and deaths, thus acting much too late. Tremendous fear of the unknown, and the feeling "am I going to get It"? All the loss of lives. And so much more. I feel numb. I think many of the long termers like me can relate especially to this. We all have our own issues in which we must deal with However I find having a good support team Loving, Caring Friends, Family can make the world of difference. Could be why I reach out to those who ask to be a friend or just someone they can talk with and release some pressure on frustration they are experiencing at the time or down the road. I hope this helps you somewhat and I would like to be your friend as well. Charles

@A myHIVteam Member I fully understand your feelings. I, too, have desensitized. The fact that there is no regard for human life on any level. I am doing my best to maintain my peace and I pray that for you all!!!

I understand your struggle. I have lost 14 people to Covid-19, 1 being my significant other. I miss having him to talk to about being HIV positive and him doing all that he knew to do to understand and be sensitive.

Please stay strong. I have been working on myself, taking classes, indulging in my hobbies, watching funny movies, chatting with people with positive and funny conversation, meditation and exercise, and building my faith. I find these things are quite helpful. Keeping busy and occupying your mind with positive thinking and energy is a great diversion. I still struggle some days, but I am coping.

You are not alone!!! Peace and blessings to you.
