Should Mental Health Be Studied And Addressed With HIV Infection?
Do you suffer from anxiety, depression fear, anger …etc.? Has HIV prompted this or made it worse?
Do you think our primary care physicians and HIV facilities should look into short and long term effects on mental health with HIV infection?
Do you think it should be treated as a serious problem?
I love my therapy time. In my research I found that some people get PTSD from their HIV diagnoses. Ignored trauma don’t go away it just masks itself temporarily. Mental health is as important as physical.
We are lucky; we receive counselling when getting a positive result. It may not be the longest schedule of sessions, but addresses initial main concerns and gives info on how to get further help. We do have a fair bit of mental health input (I’m currently seeing a psychologist, and have had a fair bit of therapy over the years), there is always a psych team at the hospital and in the community, doctors refer patients regularly.
Yes
Absolutely! My husband went head to head with my previous doctor on the way Sustiva was impacting me. I’ve practically always had anxiety depression issues, but I was unreasonably explosive and borderline suicidal. My doctor didn’t believe Sustiva was to blame, although my husband had found articles on similar side effects. All I can say with certainty, is when my medication was changed, I rapidly went back to my normal. My normal is dealing with anxiety and depression. With Sustiva, I was off the rails, for many years. I did feel that my doctor was so focused on HIV related test results, that other issues were not given adequate priority.
Breathe.....feel the air in your lungs😮😮😮😁..its ok🤗
