I have been very fortunate in nearly 29 years. I have been asymptomatic with zero opportunistic infections. Take my medication and try and eat right get enough sleep don’t do drugs and I prayed to my God and I thank him and when I was diagnosed, I think God and I said if one person doesn’t get this disease because they, spoke with me about having it and it’s OK that HIV positive . I’ve had a few idiots in my life along the way, but I’m healthy and I’m thankful every day. It’s a little things and the big things. I’m thankful for. I’m thankful for God my family my job my health. Having 3 healthy children while having HIV. My first child was born February 9, 1985. I was diagnosed that same year in March. My wife and baby tested negative. My 2 other children were born even though I was diagnosed and did not decide to get treatment because I was told I have HIV and not AIDS and I was feeling healthy and okay holding down 3 jobs so my wife can stay home and care for our little family. My only son passed away at age 16 in a surfing accident. I have my 2 daughters who have blessed me with 9 healthy and happy grandchildren.
Today, I still maintain my positive status with the exception of being undetectable for more than 20 years. I had begun ART treatment in 1995, 10 years after diagnoses. My immunity was eroded for not enough rest and working multiple jobs at the same time just to raise my little family. God was on my side.
I am fortunate to find this platform that has helped me with many questions and answers.
