HIV: What People Don't See (Infographic)

Updated on February 26, 2024

Below the surface, living with HIV can mean isolation, depression, social stigma, and side effects of medication. There’s so much more to life with HIV than meets the eye. We know that HIV comes with symptoms, medication side effects, relationship challenges, and emotional turmoil, much of which appears invisible to outsiders. Most people don’t see half of what we experience.

On myHIVteam, the social network and online support group for people living with HIV, members discuss the chronic nature of HIV and its hidden symptoms. On myHIVteam, more than 40,000 members have shared hundreds of conversations about life with HIV.

Throughout the year we will share themes we see come up time and again on myHIVteam. We chose the image of an iceberg to represent HIV because the life-impacting implications of HIV aren’t obvious on the surface. Please share to spread HIV awareness!
