Is It Possible To Donate My Unused Genvoya To Someone Or Some Organization?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Jacksonville, FL

I just switched from Genvoya to Biktarvy but had some unopened Genvoya and I hate for it to go to waste. Is there a place or person I can donate it to? I'm in the Jacksonville, FL area.

Donating unused medication like Genvoya is generally not recommended due to safety and legal concerns. It's best to consult with your healthcare provider or local pharmacy for proper disposal methods. They can guide you on how to safely dispose of unused medications.

Thanks for the idea Xavier. I also had a barely used bottle of Genvoya and was planning to save that in case. But I hoped that the unopened bottle could be used by someone who needed it and maybe could afford it

use the genvoya first, then you'll always have an extra bottle on hand if insurance doesn't cover it, or if paperwork wasn't submitted on time, or if the pharmacy can't get your prescription in on a timely manner. Because sooner or later, you'll experience one of these and be out of medication. So use the genvoya first, then start on the biktarvy, but make sure you still get your meds every month so you'll always have an extra bottle for reserve if something happens if you cant get your meds on time.
