Does President Elect Trump's Choice Of Openly Married Gay Man As Treasury Secretary Bode Well For The US LGBT Community

I was surprised to hear that an openly gay married man Scott Bessent has been appointed US Treasury Secretary by Donald Trump. Scott has endured very extreme prejudice in the past, but he has overcome this to become Treasury Secretary, one of the most important Posts in the Trump administration. So I wondered if this bodes well for the LGBT Community in the US and is it a step in the right direction ?

Trump personally doesn't scare me as far as " LG" issues, but they've been awful to the trans community which only makes up less than 1% of the population. Typical scare tactics but they have made adverse rulings already. I expect some rights, laws and entitlements may be affected like my healthcare. I am grandfathered into Ryan White for HIV care so we will see .I also live in California which is very active in protecting gay rights. Project 2025 is the scary gorilla, I have a list of anti-LGBTQ laws on their agenda from our LGBTQ center. Basically they want gays to disappear. I have a feeling as many do that Trump is not well physically and mentally and may not make it through the year. Then we have "guyliner" Vance who claimed once to be gay but is as supporter of Project 25. I am hoping for the best and preparing for the worst. I think I'd mentioned I was going digital nomad anyway and just contacted a realtor with some friends out of the country but intend to continue healthcare here.

I try not to get into politics in this website. Also with me being a straight male. I did not like Donald Trump. Then years ago I had dinner with him and about50 other people. Little by little I have come to like him. He's still an asshole when he speaks in public. I wouldn't worry about being gay and Trump. If you are an immigrant that's a different story. I pray for the best for all of us

I try to understand the worry that the gay community has about trump. I

The marital status and family structure of LGBTQ individuals do not influence their professional appointments or dismissals in governmental roles. In the previous administration, there was a notable turnover of cabinet members, which incurred significant costs to taxpayers. It remains to be seen if this pattern will continue in the current term.
