Do You Get Chronic Fatigue And Tiredness After Long Journeys?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Im finding when I do the 150 mile day return trips to London Im utterly exhausted afterwards. It feels just as bad as the jet lag I get when travelling between London and Los Angeles which is 5500 miles. When I look for an explantion online, it says the tiredness is caused by the speed of the Train or Plane going against Earth's gravity. In other words its not normal for the human body to be forced against gravity at high speed, and the result is extreme tiredness. Tiredness resolves after a… read more

I know that I get fatigued all the time..... this month I will be traveling from New Hampshire to New Jersey which could be a 6 - 7hr trip (1 hr to go from my home city to Boston MA, then we wait around for the train which takes 5hrs, and then we have to get to our destination which takes a quick trip).... so I am sure that I will be asleep the entire time we're on the train.

This is a lot, A LOT better than when we use to just take the bus down to Jersey.... that was a HORRIBLE experience - at least with the trains we can get up and walk around a bit.

Now this time around we're not leaving too early in the morning.... we gotta be in Boston for an 11:40am departure and arrive (estimated) by 4:40pm. Like I said before I will probably be asleep the entire trip, but I know that I will be exhausted once we get to our destination, so I won't be up for much.

What's going to suck is coming home where we're going to have to leave New Jersey by 8:05am (I am NOT a morning person) and we'll be back in Boston by 1:15pm so maybe looking at getting back to Nashua around 3pm just based on the Bus schedule, then another 10-20m to get back to home (depending on when we can get a car) all while I have appointments the next day...... which thankfully they're not until the late afternoon.

Oh ok @A myHIVteam Member. I don't take any rest stops. I drive straight there and straight back since it's only about 3.5-4 hours. I haven't been on a plane or train in a while.

Hi @A myHIVteam Member It would be faster to take a plane, and I would have no problem with that, but my better half has a great deal of anxiety when it comes to flying, so the train it is.

Hi @A myHIVteam Member. I drive my car there from Portsmouth VA to Bethesda MD. It takes about 4 hours. I find myself sleeping into the early afternoon of the next day.
