CRISPR Therapy Disappointment

The very promising CRISPR hiv gene therapy disappoints in the latest study.the development of ebt-101 a CRISPR base therapy was used on HIV patients. They were taken off there ARVs and unfortunately there HIV viral loads increased rather quickly. There trying to figure out the problem and of course the HIV reservoirs are the problem. They know the cure, they have since 2011. It's just how to get things right to eradicate it. It was actually gamers who solved the cure, not scientist or doctors. You can read about it here:

I've never put much hope in a cure. When I think back to the early days, we have come so far. If not for the advances made in HAARTs in the late 90's, I would not have survived 20 years ago. I lost way too many friends to it. They will find a cure. Perhaps not in my lifetime, but in time.

I think that’s why people should get on ARVs as soon as possible. From what I understand people who recently been infected and tested positive should be on ARVs immediately. No waiting for drug resistance tests etc. they should take the meds the same day they get there results. Supposedly doing this dosent give HIV a chance to hide in reservoirs as much as someone starting treatment later .

All we need to do is hold on and keep making healthy choices while we wait. Eventually with enough people working on the problem it will get solved.

Yup... I'm looking into a cardiovascular clinical trial myself in the state of Illinois. It's geared toward long-term HIV and cardiovascular disease 👍❤️
