That is a very personal decision, and everyone discloses their status differently, depending on their situation. I usually don’t disclose to friends, but if I see that it may take a turn to a more intimate relationship, I disclose right away.
(* Disclosing in person is always the more appropriate way, but also follow up in writing, like a text or DM, just so you have written proof,
in case you may need it legally)
