Having Children With I Have Hiv
if I’m pregnant(I am not currently pregnant or anything,)currently pregnant or anything, and give birth vaginally, do I pass it on to my kids? Do I have to do a C-section in order to not pass it along to my children? Sorry if that’s a dumb question I again have been so sheltered in my life. I feel like I know nothing and I’m now paying for it.🤦🏼♀️😰
I found out I had HIV while pregnant I had a full pregnancy an a healthy baby girl 4yrs later she still does not have HIV , as long as you take your meds as directed everything should be ok
@A myHIVteam Member, yes, you can vaginally have a negative baby 🍼. Read about it here:

A lot of women are diagnosed while pregnant its a routine blood test ran during the 1st well baby visit. As long as the pregnant person is on meds and undetectable at the time of birth vaginal delivery is okay and they will not pass it onto the baby. I had a C-section and was on an AZT drip for 4 hours prior to the surgery. My son is 13 and was born negative.
Really oh my gosh! that’s amazing to hear. Congratulations! Thank you! I was about ready to sign off having children.
And yes you can have a negative baby vaginally but as we all know we should do what's best for us and what the doctor recommends of course. I was encouraged to have a vaginal birth but from experience and what "I" felt was the safest thing to do was C-section. But always go with what your doctor advises for the safety of you and your child
