Keep doing what is best for me and keep taking my meds. Try to be as happy as i can be which is still hard to do since losing my mom in 2020. Try and just live life as i was meant to with the amazing man in my life.

Back when I was diagnosed there was only AIDS and that was considered a death sentence. I was fully aware of this because I was already volunteering in a a AIDS ward in a local hospital because so many of my friends were dying or already dead from this disease. Seeing I had a job that I could afford the best doctors in the world I already knew of a promising young doctor in my area and made a appointment with her and when I met her I told her this disease wasn't going to be my death. At this time there was only one medicine and that was AZT and I knew that since I had hepatitis b this medicine would not work because it was dangerous to the liver. So I told her I wasn't taking it and because of my positive attitude she agreed with my decision. I saw her again in 2 weeks and she told me about a combination of medications and looked promising in the lab test and they were getting ready for animal testing and if I and another person that a fellow colleague knew would agree to be the human test subjects by paying for the medicine ourselves she would arrange for it. We both agreed. I agree with most of the comments made here except it's not about living one day at a time it's about living your life to the fullest and not worrying about the disease. Also you have to be as knowledgeable about the disease as your doctor. Keep your body exercised and eat healthy foods and above all believe in a higher power

Just live...I'm not defined by my HIV status...I'm happy to be alive at 63...when so many others are not.

After 38+yrs of this journey I've learned to appreciate the "little things" that we sometimes take for granted & being "present", "in the moment" had served me well although after all this time I've reached the "difficult period" of back to back infections, illness, etc. & I feel that it's close & I'm ok with that because I'm tired & the fight has become so to real "ya know?" Anyway I love seeing everyone saying how they are "living", "just live", etc. It's nice to see all the positivity & that is what keeps us ALL going.
Blessings to ALL & keep living as best as you are able 🥰🙂♥️
