Does Anyone Have Any Personal Experience With Sertraline/zoloft? Good Or Bad?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Dracut, MA

My HIV specialist put me on a dose of sertraline and I am just curious about what to expect , as I dont usually use antidepressants. In my case I have severe cptsd & social anxiety that ive already been addressing , but feel hopeful this might help me out more.

@A myHIVteam Member Welcome to capitalism in the USA, where money buys political influence. Many people don't feel like politics affects their lives at the local level. Nothing could be further from the truth.

@A myHIVteam Member. The serotonin antidepressants are easy to take, and are the least problematic of the antidepressants. MAOIs and tricyclics predated them, and tended to be more problematic. I have a long history of tricyclics and SSRIs, plus the serotonin and norepinephrine drugs like Cymbalta, and dopamine increasing agents like Wellbutrin. I think the easiest and safest of these drugs are Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro. Not Paxil. That's what I take, and it is difficult to stop. Zoloft is great for anxiety. If you feel sedated (and I'm not saying you will) I agree with Brad3 that a serotonin and norepinephrine drug would be a good next step. Good Luck 🍀

I’ve been on it for the past year. It’s calmed me down for the most part , except for when I’m driving and dealing with clueless idiots that shouldn’t have a driver’s license. 😂😂😂 But keep in mind . Drugs like that affect different people in different ways . I still have bouts of depression and sadness here and there. ( Update, I’ve probably had my worst bout of depression this past week since my old PCP prescribed it to me . I’m thinking of asking my new PCP for an alternative or taking me off it all together . I wish I didn’t have to give my old one up , but I lost my health insurance when I divorced in April, and had to apply for Medicaid . Her office doesn’t take that insurance.

@A myHIVteam Member. Gold is a commodity like any other. Its price goes up and down, just like gasoline. All that matters is what you buy it for, and what you sell it for... buy low, sell high, ideally. The opposite can happen just as easily, depending on the circumstances under which you sell. Usually, you are buying in good times, selling in bad... and that lack of choice when selling is what bites you in the @$$.
