Has This Changed You?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Given what you now know of Covid-19, have you modified, changed or remained the same throughout the last two weeks? Do you find yourself more compassionate toward others or more anxious about life? Or perhaps something else....?

I follow the suggested guidelines and protocols. Having worked long ago for years as a healthcare provider, I have practiced these techniques in my daily life for years. My biggest challenge has been to control my anxiety and worry. I allow myself to be subjected to only pertinent Covid-19 information in small doses. I don't want to obsess about the pandemic and be stressed. I make a conscious effort to avoid "doom and gloom" scenarios and the negative barrage of panicked reactions. A great thing that our social group does are virtual coffee talks every Saturday and happy hour once weekly. It is a positive experience for us all and allows for connections within our own home; therefore avoiding unnecessary risks. We talk about pandemic related issues but make sure that a small portion of time is spent on the subject. On my Facebook, I share music videos, my poetry, historical/inspirational articles, funny anecdotes, etc.

@A myHIVteam Member I was given very little chance of surviving AIDS in 2005. CD4 of 3 and extremely high viral loads. I did the medical 'miracle' and survived sitting new precedents. I follow the do's and don'ts but refuse to allow stress run my life.

HIV left untreated is a relatively slow killer compared to this coronavirus. Some folks get corona and are gone just 4 days after noticing first symptoms. It's humbling seeing the forces of nature moving at such lightning speed.
