A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

I'd have to drive an hour or more to go to one and and it seems like they aren't geared towards people that are employed since they are week days in the middle of the day like at noon. I want to find support but I'm having a hard time. This is probably the most active site I've found online as well. Is that because it's more manageable today… read more

As for support groups, they are great when you can find them. Mine is mostly online cause there are so few women who admit they have hiv in utah.

This is the best site I've found but there is the Well project, thebody.Com and a few others for accurate info. If you want to know about being a woman living with HIV, there's always Babes, they don't have support groups in your area but they will give you an assigned support person who is just another woman living with HIV. You can ask me anything, im really open.

Support groups can be incredibly beneficial for individuals living with HIV. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Importance of Support Systems: Support systems are crucial for managing anxiety and other challenges associated with HIV. Surrounding yourself with understanding and supportive friends, family, and loved ones can make a significant difference.

- Online Communities: Joining HIV support groups or online communities, such as myHIVteam, can provide a sense of belonging and allow you to connect with others facing similar challenges. MyHIVteam is a social network where more than 37,000 people with HIV come together to ask questions, give advice, and share their stories.

- Building Your Network: If you're newly diagnosed, connecting with members on myHIVteam can be a first step towards finding support. This community can provide ongoing emotional boosts whenever you feel worried or overwhelmed about life with HIV or want to celebrate a victory.

- Family and Friends: Sharing your HIV diagnosis with friends and family can be hard, but they can be part of a solid support system to help you maintain a happy and healthy life.

- Healthcare Providers: Many hospitals and medical practices offer resources beyond medical appointments, such as on-site support groups, chaplaincy services, health education classes, and referrals to other services.
