Undetectable But Low Cd4 Count

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
London, UK

I have been undetectable for nearly 6 months but never have had a cd4 above 170 and that was when I had a viral load of 500,000 !!! Not a typo. Technically this has kept me in the AIDS dx but zero symptoms. Even my ID doc is puzzled by it considering I have had zero symptoms in 1.5 years.

Anyone with similar viral load and cd4 discrepancies?
What does your doc say?

Hi
The thing to focus on is that u are undetectable...that means the meds are workong which I imagine u know....as for ur disagnosis of AIDS ince anyone progresses to 200 or below the txt book of the CDC mandates that we always be considered as an aids status and this is defined as a CD4 COUNT AT OR BELOW 200 & ATLEAST ONE OI OR opportunisitic infection there are ppl who's cd 4 never raises above this level but they still are undetectable and live quality lives also ur not as prone to opportunistic infections being undetectable....or the levels of the virus are no longer present....no more 500,000 copies of the virus in ur blood or per table spoon of ur blood keep eatting right and if u dont start a small regiment of exercise....and ur stress level down please keep uo the good work...please ask ur doctor to checkin with FIGHT.ORG to answer his or her questions about this puzzle.....they are a leader in HIV Advocacy and Education

I am the same way my doctor cares more about my viral lode than my t cells i can never get them past 200 mine is 177 and viral lode is undetectable but they put on other medicines to see if it would go up but it hasn't in years my good doctor says that some people immune system might work different from others i went down to 24 t cells in 2004 and 2005 my cousin she went down to 0 and her t cells are in the normal people range so it just depends on stress and your diet and living situation i guess glad i ain't the only one going through this it sucks i want it to go up there but it won't have a great day today
