Wow somebody else I can relate to, no meds until 96! At that time seeing my ID Dr every 3 months and my labs at that point were considered the new norm! With my severe neuropathy I picked up one of my cats that always did the little love nip thing and I didn't know she broke the skin,it was that small and there was no visible signs of blood! My finger started swelling about 5 days later and I thought I had a splinter! Within the next few days my entire hand started to swell and I would get dizzy so I went to my PCP and he was furious to say the least! He lanced my finger and the puss just poured out! It was 3 days before Xmas and I was hosting 18 family and friends for the holiday! Xmas Eve I would go for 30 minutes or so and faint! As my Dr directed I went to the ER and was admitted with Sepsis and there I stayed for the next 3 weeks receiving 3 antibiotics around the clock and had surgery on the affected finger where they opened the finger to allow the infection to drain while they used a flesh eating bacterium to remove the dead layers of skin! I was looking at spending the next 3 months in a nursing home for antibiotic therapy but I had enough Drs who I worked with to find a drug that would take care of the Sepsis and the MRSA I contacted in the hospital! Needless to say I started taking the meds I was getting but not taking and moved on!
