Humberto Orozco is a graduate student, an athlete, and an advocate for people living with HIV. After being diagnosed with HIV over 15 years ago, Humberto found a way to accept himself and discovered a new purpose in standing up for others. He’s since received several honors for his work in public health and advocacy from Poz magazine, Visibility Club, and other organizations. Ya que hay mucha desinformación sobre el tema. Si no hacemos algo al respecto seguirá esta epidemia. Cuando yo tenía 19 años es cuando recibí el diagnostico de VIH. El estigma de VIH lo fomenta el silencio. Hasta recientemente me sentí cómodo y compartí mi diagnostico con mi familia y con todo el mundo. Tuve la fortuna de conocer a un grupo de apoyo porque me lo presentó mi terapeuta.

Esas personas fueron fundamentales en yo aceptarme a mí mismo. Simplemente, ponernos en mente de que nosotros somos nuestros mejores defensores y debemos abogar por nuestros derechos. Yo creo que poniéndole una cara nos humaniza a las personas con VIH. Es nuestro deber, no solo como personas con VIH, pero cualquier persona. Soy Humberto y vivo con VIH.
