Enlarged Liver

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
New Brunswick, NJ

Lately my stools are sometimes light brown or dark yellow. Not all the time but at least three times a week. I went to my doctor and he felt my stomach abdomen etc and said my liver seems to feel enlarged. He sent me for blood tests and stool samples. I’m waiting for the results. My ID doctor did a blood test a month earlier and my liver numbers alt, ast, protein, bibirium were all normal. My akalaine phosphate was high but not much. Besides the stool issue I have no pain fever, night sweats,or… read more

Do You Actually Know How To Take Your HIV Medication?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Edmore, MI

Have you ever read the pamphlet on your medications?
Some medications you can just take them without food.
Other medications you have to take them with food.
for the medications that you have to take with food do you know what kind of food you have to eat to make that drug work at its maximum?
Did you know that some HIV medications work better when you eat fatty foods?
It's important to read those pamphlets that come with the medications then you know how to actually take your medications.

Do You Feel Your Doctor Appointments Are Becoming Shorter In Length, Especially With Docs Connected To Big Hospital/medical Organizations?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Seattle, WA

Guess I was spoiled back in the old days when HIV docs were also GP's, and spent at least a half hour with you, sometimes an hour. Since my last two HIV/GP docs retired, both I saw for several years, I've notice quite a change. First off, not many HIV docs are also GP docs in my city, so you need to have two docs, one for HIV, the other GP. My first appointment with my new HIV doc was about 15 minutes if that. He didn't seem concerned about my history, more concerned about my changing meds… read more

I don't know about where you are from but here in Dallas there's been a major increase in hiv cases and there are not enough doctors to treat them. I'm not trying to insult or put any one down but… read more

Holidays

December is a month of a lot of different celebrations for different people. What traditional or nontraditional holidays do you celebrate (if any)?

A myHIVteam Member

I celebrate the Festival of Lights, which is based on St. Lucias day, the Winter Solstice, Saturnalia, and Dia de Sol Invictus.

Does Anyone Have A Picture And/or List Of A HIV "Cocktail" From The 90's?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Dallas, TX

I am trying to wrap my head around what a real cocktail was in the past. When I received my HIV diagnoses in 2012 doctors put me on Atripla, a 3-in-1 pill, that very same day. I have not seen any TV show or movie explain what past cocktails where. In the movie Rent, they say "AZT TIME" but never really explain if that is a three times a day thing or 15 times a day thing. Even in the movie Dallas Buyers Club, they go through a list of the medicine but not dosages or dosing schedule. I believe… read more

@A myHIVteam Member is correct there were no cocktails just AZT of which I never partook of thankfully because of my long denial after diagnosis. By the time I started getting sick, there were other… read more
