What Food Do You Miss Because Of Your ART Therapy?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Athens, GA

I miss eating grapefruits. It was a nice treat to slice in half and use the special food to eat. Unfortunately they are contraindicated if you are on certain ART meds. Now I can only enjoy the smell.

Spicy food 😋😋😋 I eat it anyways and pay the cost on the toilet!!!

Hi. Has Anyone Switched From Atripla To Genvoya?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Tucson, AZ

I've been on Atripla 11 yrs with good success & little side effects, but concerned it may be hard on my bones, teeth and kidneys. Heard and read that Genvoya may be a better alternative and not as harsh on my body (especially as I get older . . . 61 now) Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has made that switch and what your experience has been like.

Do You Actually Know How To Take Your HIV Medication?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Edmore, MI

Have you ever read the pamphlet on your medications?
Some medications you can just take them without food.
Other medications you have to take them with food.
for the medications that you have to take with food do you know what kind of food you have to eat to make that drug work at its maximum?
Did you know that some HIV medications work better when you eat fatty foods?
It's important to read those pamphlets that come with the medications then you know how to actually take your medications.

Does Anyone Have A Picture And/or List Of A HIV "Cocktail" From The 90's?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Dallas, TX

I am trying to wrap my head around what a real cocktail was in the past. When I received my HIV diagnoses in 2012 doctors put me on Atripla, a 3-in-1 pill, that very same day. I have not seen any TV show or movie explain what past cocktails where. In the movie Rent, they say "AZT TIME" but never really explain if that is a three times a day thing or 15 times a day thing. Even in the movie Dallas Buyers Club, they go through a list of the medicine but not dosages or dosing schedule. I believe… read more

@A myHIVteam Member is correct there were no cocktails just AZT of which I never partook of thankfully because of my long denial after diagnosis. By the time I started getting sick, there were other… read more

Genvoya Isn’t The Miracle I Expected...anyone Else Having A Time With It And Switched To Another ART?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Fayetteville, GA

Well unfortunately @@Genvoya is not what I expected. I have every side effect listed plus a few more. Here we go...insomnia, lack of appetite, nausea, headache, diarrhea, rash, worsening neuropathy, nightmares nightmares nightmares and this strange thing which makes my eyebrows tingle after I take the dang stuff. My ID Doc wants to switch me and of course she says she has never seen this with one of her patients...lucky me. My question is this: Anyone else have issues with @@Genvoya and have… read more

I had no problem taking genvoya. I don't understand why I'm hearing that some were on genvoya and sustiva at the same time. I have never had to take two pills at one time. I was on sustiva for… read more

Low Cd4 Count

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Abingdon, VA

With those of us that lower cd4 counts (its been a month since my last labs and mine were at 53) do you still go out in public? Are you terrified? My doctor told me it was ok to go places as long as i took the precautions (mask, hand sanitizer, washing hands, etc) but i still havent built up the nerve to go anywhere or do anything which is kinda driving me nuts lol. I havent been anywhere since i got out of the hospital at the beginning of april. I was just wondering if i was the only one this… read more
