Answering Profile Questions

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
North Hollywood, CA

When filling out the "my story", I feel like when it comes to my truth, I am either left with saying, "retired" or "other". I think it would be appropriate to have a selection for " Disabled" individuals.

Is there a reason it is not included ?

Who can I contact to let my voice be heard ?

Thank you. Cynthia ❤️

HIV And Cornavirus....action Not Taken Soon Enough By Administrations:

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Seattle, WA

Who would think those of us who lived through the 80's, 90's during the peak of the AIDS epidemic where millions of people died worldwide, are experiencing something of the same all over again. And once again politics speak more loudly than the science, where people need to begin dying in great numbers to get the Administration to take notice and act. Finally listen to the science and begin rushing clinical trials. It seems all to familiar and equally as sad for all involved.

It also seems… read more

My primary physician recently asked me if I would take a vaccine for shingles. I said no because I had chicken pox at 21 and I'm not around people or children these days.

There Is A New Injectable Currently Being Tested In Trials. Would You Change Your Current Regiment To This Treatment, If Approved?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Geneva, IL

An injectable two-drug regimen of cabotegravir and rilpivirine administered every 2 months is noninferior to the same injection received monthly, according to results from the phase 3 ATLAS-2M trial. The phase 3 ATLAS study previously demonstrated that receiving injections of the investigational regimen every 4 weeks is noninferior to a daily three-drug oral regimen for the treatment of HIV and is overwhelmingly preferred by patients.

My Dr talked to me about it. I'm happy with my pill. An injection for me would be a NO!

Coping With HIV, Depression, And Anxiety:

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Seattle, WA

There seem to be more and more posts about feeling depressed, anxious, and even hopeless. Having HIV and depression, anxiety, or panic disorder makes it so hard to cope. I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety which has haunted me for years even with the help of anti depressants and therapy. Both HIV and Depression has a tendency to isolate us, because they both carry stigmas. It is hard to talk with people about it if they don't have it and sometimes push people away.

It comes… read more

Undetectable But Low Cd4 Count

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
London, UK

I have been undetectable for nearly 6 months but never have had a cd4 above 170 and that was when I had a viral load of 500,000 !!! Not a typo. Technically this has kept me in the AIDS dx but zero symptoms. Even my ID doc is puzzled by it considering I have had zero symptoms in 1.5 years.

Anyone with similar viral load and cd4 discrepancies?
What does your doc say?

A myHIVteam Member

If someone with HIV has an undetectable viral load but a low CD4 count, it means that while the virus is well-controlled and not actively replicating, their immune system is still weakened. Here are… read more
