I received my diagnosis of HIV in the fall of 1989. However I think I was infected at least in July 1983. That was the last time I could remember doing something that would have put me at risk for it.

I was celibate from July 1983 until 1999.

I didn’t even think about going to a doctor after my diagnosis. I didn’t go to the doctor until I was diagnosed with full blown AIDS in 1995. Fortunately the new meds (ART) were released when I was in the hospital.

Funny I use to ask my dad when he was in his 60’s what life was like. He use to tell me it’s the same.

Now I can say life after 60 is the same as life during my 30’s. Only I tend to think more with the head on my shoulder than with the other head. I still like to go dancing, gym, beach, swimming, traveling everything I use to do.

My gas tank is still half full.

I was diagnosed in January 1995, but had been positive a long time before that date. So since diagnosis its now 30 years and Ive been on uninterrupted hiv treatment for 29 years. I was 36 years old when diagnosed and Im now just 3 weeks away from my 66th birthday. Thing is I dont know what the future holds for my remaining years on Planet Earth.
