Has Anyone Here Have Had A Lumbar Puncture? If So How Did That Go? My Hiv Doc Wants Me To Get One, With Headaches Being Reasoning. Bleh!
I had 1 when they were trying to DX my encephalopathy. Negative. The Dr's tested everything. Lastly HIV. I guess I didn't fit the typical stereotype. I don't remember how it felt though.
I had one done almost 15 years ago. The mental side of anticipation and the need to be still, were worse for me than the actual physical side of it. Try not to let it get inside your head.
It's the 2nd time a doc recommend it. Different doc this time. My numbers have been really bad the last couple years. I'm responding well to medication, undetectable. I don't think a spinal tap is necessary, just no immune system. I believe its medication side effects. My cd4 has been between 45-49 last couple of years.
Wow I have not but it does not sound good. Please get a second opinion and take your husband with you 🌈🌈🌈🌈❤️
I’ve had a few lumbar punctures done.
They are uncomfortable for sure. The procedure usually goes fast. I was sore for a couple of days afterwards.
The first time one was performed was because I had an infection the doctors could not figure out the cause. They took some fluid out of the spine, examined it and were able to pinpoint the cause of the infection.
They are a great tool for the doctors to better understand what’s going on inside of you.
Good health to you.
