Do You Struggle With Interactions Between HIV Med Vs Other Meds And/or Vitamins

My pharmacy told me that iron can decrease effectiveness of Biktarvy yet this is why I take my HIV meds in the morning and other meds plus vitamins at night to place a significant gap of time between them

We have an in house HIV Pharmacy at my treatment centre. I always check with them when considering taking other medicines or vitimins. Currently I take Saw Palmetto and Vitimin B12. I take these for my Prostate and fatigued problems.

My Dr said no NSAIDS. NO magnesium, iron or zinc unless 8 hours apart from Biktarvy.

Yes. In fact it is why I am not on meds at the moment. My time will come but for now my VL is controlled by my genetics. I am grateful for that.

Gracious Good Day: Long story short my body is extremely sensitive. I have adverse reactions to so many medications it fills up a page. Many of my reactions are because when a second prescription is added, it is the combination that increases the likelihood an adverse reaction will happen. The last oral antibiotic I was prescribed (Bactrim) interacted with my antiviral (Atripla). I now have chronic kidney disease after being near death. Being left with having to have IV Antibiotics administered when they are necessary. So yes I consult regularly with my health team when new medication is prescribed. Peace, every Blessing be Yours and those you Love.
