Copays

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Fall River, MA

I am not familiar with healthcare in the US. I have insurance through my employer and my income makes me not elegible for most assitance programs. My Biktarvy copays are almost $3K per bottle and I already exhusted the Gilead cupon and about to do the same with the patient adovace foundation. I do not know what other option(s) I have. Does anyone have a similar situation?

That's a very high copay. Are they paying any portion of your meds?

Im sorry to hear about these exorbitant prices you have to pay to get HIV Treatment.
Its morally wrong that your State does not provide all care and treatment.
If you were resident in the United Kngdom, all medical treatment and drugs are provided free of charge of the State. We do have to pay for Dentists and Podiatrists which can be expensive.

Copayments, or copays, refer to a fixed amount you’ll pay for things like medical visits, prescriptions, or diagnostic tests. It's important to understand the details of your copayments as part of your insurance policy to manage your out-of-pocket expenses effectively.

See if your insurance has a mail order option. My copay went from over $1,000 a month to $90 for three months.

That's an awful high co-pay..... and you have insurance through work? Insurance companies have to cover the cost of your medications. My husband is covered by insurance through his employer and is on PReP and they have to bite the cost of that medication leaving him with a $50 co-pay which is a considerable downgrade from the $2,000+ it costs (Descovy)..... I would call my insurance company and have a very serious talk with them because that is beyond unreasonable.
