We have four cats and my children know that I'm absolutely not allowed to touch the litter in any way shape or form. They've been doing a great job keeping on top of it and hasn't been a problem. I was also told the same thing when I was pregnant years ago, because it can cross over into the babies bloodstream.

Ive raised the subject with my new guy. He reacted very calmly and his Cat does her mess outdoors only..He said shes not allowed into bedroom or on kitchen surfaces, he showers before and after sex, so I think my worry is much less now

I took the plunge and am staying with my new boyfriend. This morning I let the cat out into the garden as she wanted to go to the ladies room. So things sorted now
