How Much Does HIV Treatment Cost ?

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Syria, VA

Good morning everyone. I asked Google yesterday about the costs of HIV treatment worldwide, and I was shocked that it is very expensive ( more than 1500$),
Is that right?
Couldn't sleep last night thinking about the fact that even if I reached a western country it wouldn't be feasible to purchase the treatment.

It's more affordable if you have health insurance from your employer. With my insurance from Blue Cross Blue Shield, out of pockets costs are $12 for doctor visits, $90 for blood testing, and I paid less than $300 for my HIV meds that costs over $85,000.00 for one year. In the US, HIV treatment is very expensive without insurance or any assistance from the many agencies available to help those who qualify for it. If coming to the US from another country as an immigrant, you may be in for a long process or could be denied. I am not certain about this.

Based on my search, with no assistance at all (private insurance, government assistance, nonprofit help, or other) Biktarvy would cost $90,000 US dollars per year. I doubt anyone actually pays that amount, because of discounts and assistance available. It appears that those who qualify for no assistance may realistically pay about $50,000 per year.

I think that's why we can't get a cure because people who make arvs benefits a lot they can't alloy cure to come out, if the cure comes out the business is done, so they have to make us suffer 💔

Just my medication alone, with no insurance, is $4,900 a month. That's JUST THE MEDIATION. Add to that the doctor visits $150 each visit. Add to that the labs about $500 each visit. Add to that transportation to get to the doctor office each visit. Add to that the vaccines you may get. This is with NO insurance.
