Tell dentist you need a deep cleaning that can slow down the process

Goodness Gracious now I have something else to talk to the doctor about. Maybe the psychologist. I often wonder what people are thinking. One response I found very judgemental is "drug use". Mine were prescribed antibiotics. I suffered and nearly died because doctors would not believe there was a connection between my use of an antibiotic and the abscessing of my molars. I lost them all. Yet with my dentures I feel they are looser and I have to wonder if it is my gums receding.

I’m in the process of getting two implants for my dad. At 88, some of his teeth are breaking. He would not be able to manage a removable partial, so this was the best approach for him. It takes about four months for the metal sockets to stabilize enough to support teeth. The extraction and implant surgery was over $4000 per tooth, and the prosthetics will be another $1500 plus each. Total of about $12,000 for two teeth. They make it sound fast and affordable in the adds.

@A myHIVteam Member. It was harder getting here, than being here. Partial dentures are now entirely made of flexible plastic (rather than hard plastic & metal). At $1000/ partial, they are affordable. They are comfortable, and easy to wear, yet I can chew up a steak using only the plastic. That's necessary, because in no place in my mouth do I have upper and lower teeth that meet. Flex partials don't last forever, so you may go through several sets in a remaining lifetime. Just as well, because my mouth is an ever changing landscape.

PS: If I ever get all my teeth removed, I'll give you early notice. I'm going to be very popular.🤠

The same inflammation that attacks other parts of the body is the primary connection between HIV and gum issues. Also, certain drug use leads to dental problems.
