I Have A Weird Question But My Dr. Switched My Hiv Med From Biktarvy To Delstrigo And Love It .1 Problem?
The problem is my insurance paid over 5000 for my biktarvy during change so i have 1 full sealed bottle left of it . I called to see if pharmacy wanted back they said no throw away really . Is there a place to donate it sealed what a expensive waste . Any thoughts or advice . Thanks Louis
Keep it for now, you never know if you might need it as a backup in an emergency. In this forum I sometimes see people struggling to get this medication because of cost or when insurance companies deliberately interfere by asking doctors to complete secondary preauthorization form which should be illegal. Its good to have a backup plan and or a buffer of medication so you are not forced to go off medication.
Sure donate the pills to the local
Aids service organization and get the fair market value of the pills to take off next year's taxes .
If your aso does what mine does they will send the pills off to a 3rd world country to be distributed there to their hiv / aids effected persons .
Use the biktary first. Then start the new med. Then you'll always have a bottle extra on hand if you can't get refills right away. It does happen when you can't get refills on time. If asked how many you have, just say what you have left in the open bottle, not the extra.
Thank you
