I Switched From Biktavy To Cabenuva Injection And Now I’m Detectable And Cd4 Low🤦🏽‍♀️

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Missouri City, MO

I was on Biktavy for 2 years and never missed a doze. My CD4 was 450, undetectable, then I switched to Cabanuva for a 2-month injection. After 6 months, my CD4 count has dropped to 314, and I am detectable again. I'm very upset and stressed right now.  It seems like the Cabenuve 2-month injection is not working for me, despite the more than 50 side effects. I went back to Biktavy; it's been 2 weeks. I plan on getting bloodwork after 1 month to see if there's any change. The problem with Biktavy… read more

Glad you said that. Been on biktarvy for several years. Getting renal u Tra sound tomorrow cause prime care saw heightened levels of creatinine in my urine. Wonder if it's from the biktarvy. Lately my pee REALLY stinks too. Will keep ya posted

@A myHIVteam Member It has to do with my kidneys. I'm schedule to meet a kidney dr next month. I started googling all of my test results. It will come in handy in the future. I've been watching my GFR go down from 90 something to 68%. On my last appointment I mentioned it to my dr. I was secretly horrified that she hadn't noticed it. She scheduled me for a kidney dr. I also decided to find a primary care physician to make sure the rest of my health is ok. Since HIV is already covered.

@A myHIVteam Member I'm ok with Biktarvy or any other 3 drug regime as long as I can take it. Right now, my GFR is going down. So, I might have to make the switch to something else. I'm scared to death.

@A myHIVteam Member That's kinda why I was going to wait a while before I tried it. Plus I forgot to ask my Dr last week if that one has three or two drugs. I'm trying to stay with my 3 drugs until I have to move to two drug pills.

@A myHIVteam Member That’s my big worry too Evan, that the Biktarvi pills will affect my kidneys . Sorry you are scared to death… that’s great you are going to get a primary care physician . I’m seeing mine way more than I am seeing my hiv specialist right now and seeing him a lot is probably going to prolong my life some more. I hope things go well with your kidney doctor and let me know how things turn out if you remember
