Do You Have A Preference On Your Hiv Doctor? The Reason
Why I'm asking is because my current hiv Doctor is leaving now I have to go to herrin, il . Now but it's a female , basically I'm asking because I always have a guy, Doctors throughout my diagnosis I feel I can tell him anything, I got an appointment this Thursday to see her what should I say I don't feel comfortable with her? What's your opinion on that 🤔 I feel like I won't be honest with her 😕 why is that
This may not help, but I have had both male and female doctors for HIV over the years. And one thing I have found is that the sex of the doctor is unimportant. And I mean totally unimportant, at least to me. What is important is how comfortable I feel being able to speak with that doctor about anything, how knowledgeable is that doctor, and how communicative and concerned is that doctor for my health? Sometimes you can't get all of the above in one package. You might get a couple of those things but not another, and sometimes you get all that you want. I have also found that doctors who work for non-profit organizations tend to be the best in terms of taking enough time with you, conversing and communicating with you, actually developing a relationship with you. I have had three favorite doctors over the decades. Two of them female, one of them male and all have worked for a nonprofit. Right now my doctor is female, and I have a terrific relationship with her, and not just her but the entire office staff, nurses, billing, everything. So, here is a big shout out to Dr Burke, Kris and Zoe!
I've had both. It doesn't matter to me as long as there is no heavy accent. For some reason I have issues understanding when a thick accent of any kind. I think it's because I've been having issues with my hearing lately. But no preference here.
My doctor has been dealing with hiv patients his entire career. He is very straightforward and no nonsense. But I don’t need a freind I need a doc that’s knows his stuff.so I’m happy with him. However for the most part we basically know what to look for and what first line meds there are from google by ourselves. I think we all know what viral load and cd 4 counts mean. So a doctor is just part of the equation I don’t want to play golf with him lol
Just saw my HIV doc on Friday. No trouble with HIV. He didn't like my elevated PSA (testosterone + prostate CA) and elevated creatinine (kidneys). I got an RSV vaccination. I was deathly sick for 24hrs... fever, rigors, headache, sore throat, malaise, etc. I understand why people say they won't ever get another vaccine. RSV can result in pneumonia for young and old. Maybe the misery will help me to dodge that bullet(?)
PS: I asked my doctor about Biktarvy vs Dovato @A myHIVteam Member He said Biktarvy is a frontline med, whereas Dovato is a switch for people who already have viremic control. You actually qualify for Dovato (VL < 500,000) due to your delta 32 mutation. High viral loads at inception could advance HIV resistance to the components in Dovato.
@A myHIVteam Member. I have many sisters. I think the ladies are good. No problem. *Spanish is not my first language.*🤠❤️👍🌵
@Un miembro de myHIVteam. Yo tengo muchas hermanas. Yo pienso que las senoras son buenas. No hay problema. *Espanol no es mi lingua primera.*🤠❤️👍🌵
