I agree with @A myHIVteam Member. The earlier the better. You may have to give a few reminders a little later as well. The sooner they know, the sooner they can accept it.

It seems that telling the child as much as they can understand, as early as possible, would be less traumatic than keeping it secret, followed by a potentially shocking announcement later in life. That’s just my opinion. I sympathize with anyone dealing with this situation.

There is no particular age.
It all depends on your family social setting. Some parents open up to their children early enough and others at a later stage, but the latter breaks the heart a lot

A real factor would be the child’s safety in their environment, if their status is known. Children can’t be expected to keep secrets, but sadly secrets are sometimes necessary.
