Having been newly infected later in life I’m in my fifties I ponder this question. Lets say that progress has stopped on better hiv treatments or cures and this is all we got till we die.is it better to be older an newly infected and have to take meds for only lets say 25 years and die from it or natural causes or to have been newly infected at an early age let’s say in your twenties and have to take hiv meds for 60 years.i bring this up for this reason . because even with the advances in… read more

Health & longevity are about more than HIV infection and meds. It starts with genetics (and sickle cell disease is a bad roll of the genetic dice).
When you become infected is heavily influenced by how you handle the news. Younger or older, if your response to infection is self destruction, med toxicity is a minor player.
Anyone successfully managing their infection has all the other chronic illnesses of life to manage as well. Heart disease, diabetes, obesity (sickle cell) can all shorten life faster than the toxicity in HIV meds.
It's the sum of how successful people have been managing their health throughout a lifetime. HIV/ meds is only one part.

A lot of our LGBTQ rights along with our h. I. V services are being threatened. That Is why its so important to spread the word and make sure we nominate Our democratic President Biden once again. He has kept the funding for our services intact plus more. The other party would like to make it more difficult for people to qualify and take those that are currently receiving benefits,..off.
