Do You Rely On HIV Services And Funding In Your State?
A lot here on my HIV team are either retired disabled or currently working. Either way services like Ryan White and other AIDS funding helps with preventive and medical coverage. Some states like Tennessee(...read about it here, https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2023/01/2... )...
have elected to refrain from receiving any federal HIV grants and funding. Would this affect you in your state,... if these Services were terminated?
Absolutely 🤗after years of working,.... unfortunately medical and Hospital insurance coverage is way into the $700 a month mark. Not to mention the cost of my antivirals. It is essential for me as a retired person that these Services continue which is why I moved to Illinois. I would never live in a state whose government dictates my health.
@A myHIVteam Member - After setting yourself up for survival, with living space and medical care, you need something that gets you out of bed. Unless you are currently unwell, survival isn’t enough to keep you going, especially with an extended disease process like HIV. Without some excitement for life, self destruction can creep back into the picture. It seems crazy to survive an illness, only to let yourself be taken by something avoidable, but I’m sure it is a common story. Enjoy your grandchildren every chance you get, buddy.
I have Medicare ,plus Extra Help from SS also pays my part D insurance! Get hiv insurance assistance from state ,pays my BlueCross premiums!
I wish my country had such initiative for people like me.....we go through alot despite faking our smile....at times the free ARVs are unaccessible due to shortage....
With Ryan white services I believe the threshold is 35000 just do a Google check and you should be able to qualify for pharmaceutical assistance through Ryan white and some of your HIV medical receipts.
Your Union should offer you an overall Health plan as well.🙂😊
