If You Could Start Over And Didn't Get HIV Until Yesterday What Would You Do Differently?
When I see new people who just got diagnosed I wonder how I would handle it differently if it were to just happen to me.
Nope...
...i am grateful every day how my life turñed out...🤗🙏
If I were diagnosed yesterday...I probably wouldn't have been here to get that diagnosis.
I wouldn't change a thing! My diagnosis got me off the streets, got me off of drugs and alcohol, and got me to take better care of my life and the opportunities that I have been given.
I think my life has become better and more full because of my HIV diagnosis. If I kept living the same way I was living prior to 2015, I wouldn't be here to tell about it, that I am certain.
As twisted as it may sound, I am grateful for my diagnosis. It has opened doors for me to educate, speak publicly, access housing, become an advocate, make sure I keep insurance, get the mental health care I needed... There has been some rejection, stigma, and dealing with ignorance along the way, but it has also brought some incredible, caring, and compassionate people into my life. Including YOU who is reading this right now! I wouldn't even be on this site if it weren't for my diagnosis.
I would've gotten out the relationship sooner and I wouldn't have continued to have sex with him unprotected.
HIV and I are one these days. I think I would be dead or locked up in jail if I hadn't got something to shake me up.
I would have started on meds right away, instead of waiting a long time. Sometimes I wonder if that is the reason I am unable to get to the undetectable level.
