Seasonal Depression

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

Here in the Northern hemisphere, especially above let's say 30 to 35 parallel, it is getting dark much quicker now, and we will still be losing daylight for another 6 more weeks. The farther North you go, the more and faster you lose daylight.
Some people get seasonal depression with all of the darkness. How do you cope with the darkness and what seems to help with your seasonal depression?

I don't have a hard time with the darkness I love the night time always have. I don't like having depression but I do take several medications for it. Right now me and my psychiatrist are trying a new medicine for my depression and anxiety. I took a test called Genesight it check's your DNA and let's you know what drugs work for you and what drugs that don't work with your DNA . I would recommend this test to everyone who struggles with finding a drug that helps with your depression.

I always look at all the blessing that I have in my life and all the wonderful people that God has sent me. I'm very strong in my faith. That's enough religion. I have struggled with it for years. It was worse when I was drinking. I would drink more and have more suicidal thoughts. Hopefully those days are over. I am bipolar my opinion is once a alcoholic always a alcoholic. That's strictly my opinion. I'm sure someone out there would debate my on it. Love yourself and be good to yourself you are worth it.

This year has not been good after the time change. My roommate who 2 was almost 72 passed away wednesday. He's been a friend for 10 years. We were not intimate because he looked too much like my father. Setting the clock an hour ahead made me go to be last night at 7:30pm thinking it was midnight only to wake up at 2:30am thinking it was 6:30am.
