"Sing" is a song recorded by Scottish singer Annie Lennox for her fourth solo studio album, Songs of Mass Destruction (2007). It was released as the second single from the album on 1 December 2007 by RCA Records. Lennox was inspired to write the track after seeing South African activist Zackie Achmat at Nelson Mandela's 46664 HIV/AIDS concert. She wanted the track to be a source of empowerment for people without a voice of their own. It also gave rise to her SING Campaign which aimed to raise funds and awareness for issues surrounding HIV/AIDS. "Sing" was produced by Glen Ballard and interpolates the South African tune "Jikelele"; the music was given to Lennox by an activist group called The Generics.
"You Have Been Loved" is a song by English singer George Michael, recorded for his 1996 album, Older. It was written by Michael and David Austin, and produced by Michael. In September 1997, "You Have Been Loved" was released as a double A-side single with "The Strangest Thing '97". It reached number two in the United Kingdom, only behind Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997" charity record. Michael wrote "You Have Been Loved" about his lover, Anselmo Feleppa, who died of an AIDS-related illness in 1993.[1] It was released as the sixth single from Older. "The Strangest Thing", also from Older, was remixed and re-recorded for this release as a more up-tempo track.
I've always enjoyed Mr Freddie Mercury of QUEEN...and associated this song to the AIDS crisis at that time 🌈🌈🌈🌈❤️
