Do You Need A Break From The News?
This last year has been tumultuous for a lot of us regarding our mental state and the State of affairs in this country. With the passing of some of our most honored leaders, a lot of us are left to wonder what's next. How do you manage anxiety and the stress that comes from watching or reading the news and the constant turmoil?
Has your health been affected?
I feel like everything is telling us to stay home but that’s just not productive or realistic. Instead I focus on how I can be the safest and how do I remain sane? For me it’s getting up very early to go out and coming home before the crowds hit the streets. It’s been my best way to self care
My head feels like exploding after all bad news there's hardly any good news..

I think that it is important to be informed but not overwhelmed by the onslaught of information. I find that music and movies are often a great escape. Film noir is a thrilling alternative. Classical music is very absorbing and relaxing. New Age alternative music reminds me of my youth. Classic soul music speaks to me. Also, I write poetry. This process allows me to express beauty, frustration, joy and hope.
I do like to know what's going on in the world but I click off & unplug pretty quickly. If I stop and think too deeply about all the stuff we're dealing with in 2020, I get quite worried.
