Yes, if I had to do without it I could do it, but it would be hard losing the touch I can get from my myHIVteam family. I would also have to go to the Post Office a whole lot more to buy them out of stamps... LOL. One would never get bored cause you would not have time to be bored with all the letters we would have to write so to keep in touch with everyone.

Once I was working with a group of 5 young men, they were strangers sharing a large house. Because they were basically living on donations, I thought they should invest on social skills and clothing instead of tablets and cell phones. They did have tablets and refurbished iPhones. I requested or demanded they do chores and get t9know each other and form sport trams and challenge the other residences to get the feel of team work .They determined the dinosaurs are extinct because some mean adult took their electronic devices from them.
Once they were motivated to get the grade 12 equivalency, they were screen fatigued from learning on line. I spoke to them about the global population shouldn't know all about them and there are too many scams and empty people bragging about what they might own.
I bought them each a journal to write about the good things they are learning. It's more difficult earning the trust of kids that had been homeless for a while. Now the motley crew are on my partner's horse ranch and are busy. growing into young men with a purpose so a morning ZOOM chat and individual if there is a private conversation.
My thrill was a manilla envelope filled with pages of stories and scanned photos of battle bruises, blisters and calloused hands. I had more time with the younger guys and my partner assures me the attitude reminds him of me. 'They are kind, giving and polite' A few nights ago he treated one to a drive for ice cream a burger then a Drive In and pizza for the rest. The young guy is just about 18 and has the more terrible past. 'I know you are not my father, may I call you Dad?'
Providing there is a positive environment, social media can be a tool and not an addiction

Absolutely. A time when things were simpler and paper and pen and the camera were tools of expression. πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
