A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭
Austin, TX

i keep getting the run around from different places, i don't make a lot of money so i can't afford insurance buti keep getting told there are free ways but then i call the places and i either don't hear back or we keep missing each others calls. Does anyone know a real place that won't run me around in circles?

Gilead will pay for your antivirals at no cost to you if you can get a doctor to write you a prescription. The only thing is you will have to get your blood checked every 6 months which will cost you. The Ryan White program could help with that though.

I am in DFW too.

Wow, I am so glad that I found this thread! Texas has a specific program for helping people pay for their HIV medication. It is called ADAP (AIDS Drug Assistance Program) Please connect with me on Facebook (www.facebook.com/alexanderdeets) and we can have a private conversation on how to get your medical, dental, and mental treatment for free. Dallas has a very rich network of HIV assistance programs. I myself have used all the services in the past and paid nothing because I didn't make enough money.

I was told by my probation officer in Wise county that Texas did not want to pay for my meds. Though, Ryan White funding is federal and I have Googled Ryan white funding in Dallas and have got a few hits. I stayed in Texas for a year and refused to get Texas ID for residentsy so could not get meds for a year. I am in California now and it was pretty easy finding programs, case management, and all that. Texas is a very conservative state. Good luck
