Immune System

A myHIVteam Member asked a question 💭

My cd4 was 2 when i was diagnosed and dr said i had a compromised immune system. As my cd4 went up and being undetectable does that go away? Or will i forever have a compromised immune system?

I agree with Ramon. I've heard if you had a low CD 4 when you were diagnosed, it takes a bit longer to get it back to normal values with the meds. Sounds like you have, Good for you. Adhere to your meds and you should be able to maintain your counts. Remember HIV/AIDS is different with every individual. Take care of yourself.

Your immune system is not compromised if you are undetecable it is not 100% you need to do everything you can to be active and healthy. Make sure you do not miss a dose of meds and avoid unhealthy crap like recreational drugs and alcohol to excess. eat healthy and excersise..

I'm undetectable but have always had a low cd4. Problem is we usually don't have a baseline to what it was before infection. It may have always been low but even then should get up over 100
